Do what you can

I havent entered anything in a few days Ive been a little under the weather, It feels like exhaustion.
Tuesday:
I just couldnt do it so I walked instead. I pushed the time to 40 mins as 30 just never feels like enough. I also ended the night in a ton of pain in my hip, Sharp and nasty - I could hardly walk!

Distance: 2miles
Time: 40 mins
Movie: Priest
Wednesday:
In a real funk at this point. I ran regardless, I went for interval over heart. Run 200 walk 200, It worked out almost the same as heart rate but it was a little easier. I kept with the same theme of 40 mins. The last 10 I walked though. I think my HR would have been to high at that point as it hit 150 at 30 mins.
Distance: 2.345 miles
Time: 40 mins
Movie: Starship troopers 2 (why not)

Thursday:
A horrible day. I felt ill and had a hoodie on during the hottest part of the day. I went for a walk and sweated up a storm.  I also phased out at about 35 minutes, that freaked me out as I nearly launched off the back of the treadmill. Im not sure fitbit is covering what Im looking for to Im going to look at myfitnesspal. You cant track exersise in fitbit, it adds any tracking to your step count so in effect adding it twice.

Ive been struggling to eat correctly but Im getting used to thinking healthy. Im not quite there but I can see small changes.

Distance: 2 miles

Day 5: American Flyers

I missed the last 2 days. I was tired and stressed so didn't get it in. A 30 minute run right now is killing me. My legs cant take it, my heart can.

Today's run was tough as I walked the last 10 minutes even though my HR dropped to 120 I could keep it up. I nearly pulled my groin. The body needs time to adjust and eventually the 2 will match. I was reminded of American Flyers - "res firma mitescere nescit" when you've got it up, keep it up! I couldn't do it tonight.

I don't have high expectations for tomorrows weigh in but Im on the right track.

Time:30 mins
Distance 1.755

Day 2:

Still tired but I slept all night. I was still tired getting up but it was a slightly better day. The run was better, I ran a little further and its seemed a little easier. I took a different attack today. I ran until HR hit 150 (5mph) and then slowed down until HR hit 120 (3mph).

Afterwards I am very stiff, I think I may need to work on some specific strength work in my upper leg. Im walking like an old man!

Movie: GI Joe
Distance: 1.835
Time: 30 minutes.

And so it begins; Day 1: Hell on a treadmill

Well I got my first workout in. Fitbit reports 13500 steps for the day. Awesome. The workout wasnt so much about HR but more about can I survive this. I kept my HR below 140 for the most part but I will push to 150. The biggest issue was cardio though, its strength. I have a lot of rebuilding to do. My legs did not like walking/running for 30 minutes. At a 12 minute mile it took 200 meters to push my HR above 150. So I slowed down and walked keeping the level up by using a steep incline. My legs couldn't handle it! Sheesh. So first few weeks are going to be getting used to moving and getting my body used to exercise again. Mentally and Physically.

Whats going on?

Its 3am at night. I'm watching TV and wondering why I am so fat and how I am going to get through another day exhausted. Things at home from the new year have been hell, they are better now. Why does my work want me to pick up and move to another state? The bad times coincide with me giving up footy and diet coke.

The Diet Coke obsession got the point I was drinking over 24 cans a day. They were free at work and we always had tons at home. So I stopped it cold turkey, this time I didn't give up caffeine too, that was hell the last time. What replaced football and Diet Coke? Massive bags of chips. One of my issues is I can eat, I can really eat - at an Olympic level and that usually what I go to when things are tough or bad.

Between the home, work, footy and Diet Coke I managed to eat myself through enough food to put on 50 pounds. I was already heave so that's left me weighing half a pound shy of 330 pounds. That's why I'm up at 3:30 am. I wear a CPAP at night so I don't die or get heart decease, I have high blood pressure and just generally in a funk. The CPAP isn't working right and its taking forever for the medical end of my life to get it together.

Then there is the stress of flying. Will I get thrown off as I hear about, will the buckle fit? Well on my last flight it didn't. I'm not bothered about the extender but I was bothered about having to ask, that stressed me out even more.

What am I going to do about it? Well I'm going to start a blog, start exercising and generally feel better. I have a fitbit, its a gimmick but I like gimmicks to see how I'm doing. I have set myself 20 pound goals. Every time I hit one I get a gift. My first gift will be a Polar M400 or a Garmin 310xt. The final goal - 210 pounds will be an Omega watch. Right now its a seamaster but that might change. The blog is just a written way for me to answer to myself and as I did in my Ironman when I'm successful turn it into a book.

I haven't been 210 (15 stone) Since I was 19 years old so although people are crying your still overweight there we can talk about that when I hit 15 stone.

I have ran 2 Ironman events and that hasn't helped me lose weight so by the end of this Id like to crush a 1 mile run to under 10 minutes, In fact Id like to run with a stride again instead of shuffling out 12 minute miles. It would be nice to talk to people about Ironman and not feel like a hypocrite as I am so heavy too.

So hear goes, wish me well and lets hope I can get it together.
